Fire Suppression

The primary goal of Roanoke Fire Rescue and Emergency Services is to protect life, property and the environment.  The Deputy Fire Chief of Operations is responsible for the day-to-day activities performed by the line personnel.

Three fire captains manage two fire stations on three daily shifts. The division has 24 uniformed personnel staffing. Those stations cover the city of Roanoke, which is about 10 square miles with a population of 30,000 and several outlying area of unincorporated Tarrant and Denton counties and Northlake.

In addition to fire suppression, this division provides Advanced EMT and paramedic-level medical response, hazardous materials operations, vehicle extrication, special rescue operations, and many community and public education events.

The men and women of the Operations Division also conduct preplan activities and routine hydrant inspections and participate in numerous fire safety educational programs around the city throughout the year.
